New Deadline for Exceptional Research Projects (PER)

The Board of Directors of the FNRS has decided to extend the deadline for validation of Exceptional Research Project (PER) applications to Monday 13 July at 14:00 (Belgian local time) instead of Tuesday 7 July at 14:00, in order to give research teams more time to prepare and submit their applications.

For reasons of administrative organisation, the FNRS Board of Directors has also decided to postpone the starting date of the projects, initially scheduled for 1 September 2020, to 1 October 2020.

Consequently, it is requested to verify that the information recorded in the applications, in particular the staff positions applied for, complies with this new starting date.

Our services remain at your disposal for any further information you may require.

Successful applications for the Coronavirus Call - Urgent Research Credits (CUR)

The FNRS and research against coronavirus: €1 million to support 21 projects

pdfThe list of proposals accepted is available here.

The Board of Directors of the FNRS has just granted research credits for a little over €1 million to 21 scientific projects conducted against the coronavirus (list and projects in the appendix). These Urgent Research Credits are financed by legacies and private donations, received in particular within the framework of the fundraising campaign that the FNRS is currently conducting. These Research Credits concern in particular epidemiological research, research into the physiopathogenesis of the disease (virus-host interactions and immune response), measures to prevent and control infection in the healthcare setting (including the best ways to protect health workers) but also projects aimed at developing tests in clinical biology and screening.

This initial funding will be supplemented by Exceptional Research Projects, to which €2 million should be devoted and for which a call for projects is currently open. They cover the same areas as the credits, but also those linked to geopolitical issues, ethics in research and care, human rights, representations, perceptions, attitudes and behaviour relating to the epidemic, the organisation of care, health policy and the acceptability of decisions, as well as the overall economic impact of the crisis.
